Rich Sikes counseled a group of private security officers on what to expect from NATO Summit protests, set to take place in Chicago on May 15-22. Rich provided the officers with lessons from the Chicago Anti-War Protest in 2003 and previous NATO Summit protests in other locations. Rich also briefed the officers on their authority under the law and potential claims that protestors could file against the officers.
Rich Sikes spoke to a group of ninety DuPage County officers on what to expect in protests and how to avoid claims by protesters against officers. Rich used the 2003 Chicago Anti-War Protest as a case study of protest crowds and the potential for post-protest litigation. Rich worked on the Vodak v. City of Chicago class action that followed the protest arrests in 2003.
